This was the second Kings of War: Vanguard warband I put together and painted up. Whereas the Basileans are the archetypal high medieval human faction, this one is more akin to the Northern barbarian type of thing.
Most of the models have pretty good detail, especially the Frostfang, Ice Queen, Huscarls, and even Clansmen.
The material is a very hard plastic, which I'm not a fan of. Difficult to work with. Even the basic units were many parts, which meant mould lines galore.

Assembly:

Assembly took a while. So many little parts meant a lot of mould lines, and the super hard plastic didn't make it easy to remove them, either.
Limbs mostly all fit together, so I didn't need to use any milliput or anything.

Paint:

Primed with Badger Stynlrez primer, brushed on.
Miniatures painted purley in oils. Mostly Winsor & Newton Winton line. Weapon and armor done with Gamblin metallic oil paint. The ice bits were done with Williamsburg's interference blue to give it a magic icy looking effect.
Took about five hours for the clansmen, and then two to three hours per other duo.
Sealed with some matt varnish from Reaper Miniatures.

Base:

Custom made with a combination of flocking mixes from Luke's APS and craft store crackle paste (Golden brand).
After it was dry, the dirt and crackle bits were easily colored with watered down Daler & Rowney acrylic inks. The porous nature of the gravel and crackle paint really let it lap up the inks. Getting blues in there do a great job of giving it an icy tundra look. Then they were drybrushed very lightly with some highlights.
